Some are minor — costing a few hundred dirhams in wasted parts. Others are catastrophic — destroying engines, hydraulic systems, or entire machines. Here are the top 10 mistakes and how to avoid them.
1. Using Non-Genuine or Wrong-Specification Parts
The most expensive "savings" in construction equipment. Aftermarket oil filters with incorrect micron ratings allow contaminants through, destroying engines. Cheap hydraulic seals fail prematurely, causing leaks and component damage. Non-specified engine oil breaks down in UAE heat, accelerating wear.
The fix: Use OEM-specified parts or verified equivalents. The upfront savings of cheap parts are always dwarfed by the repair costs they cause. For filters, oil, and seals, insist on genuine components.
A small oil leak, an unusual noise, or a slight temperature increase are all early warnings. Ignoring them turns a minor service into a major repair:

3. Skipping Air Filter Maintenance in Dusty Conditions

The fix: Check air filters daily. Replace every 100–150 hours in dusty conditions — not the 500-hour intervals recommended for clean environments.

The fix: Choose one hydraulic oil brand and grade and stick with it. If you must change brands, drain the system completely, change all filters, and refill with the new oil. Label the reservoir with the oil type in use.
5. Over-Tightening Fittings and Bolts
When a hydraulic fitting leaks, the instinct is to tighten it more. Over-tightening deforms the sealing surface, cracks fittings, strips threads, and makes the leak worse. Similarly, over-torquing engine head bolts can warp the head or strip threads in aluminium components.
The fix: Use a torque wrench and follow manufacturer specifications. If a fitting continues to leak after proper torque, replace the fitting or its sealing washer — don't apply more force.
6. Operating Equipment with Known Faults
